Queen Anne Kitchen Addition

These homeowners loved entertaining and the main floor of their house was divided up into small, disconnected spaces. The brick fireplace sat in the middle of the house and walls separating the kitchen, dining & living room spaces came out from there. The kitchen had an awkward little breakfast nook that was not used and ended up being a storage space. They also wanted better connection from the living space to their lovely backyard deck and hot tub.

We removed the chimney and surrounding walls.  4 new beams were required to support the new open structure. We extended the interior of the house to fill-in the previous back porch and add more space to the awkward nook which is where the new kitchen sink is located. We relocated the laundry to the basement and moved the powder room to be access through a hidden door in the cabinetry.

In the main living space, we added a gas fireplace to be a focal point on the main floor.  On the back of the house, we added a folding door to open the dining room to the deck for ultimate entertaining. We also added a feature waterfall butcherblock countertop to locate the homeowner’s beer taps. Lastly, we site engineered a sliding appliance garage door to hang on a track at the top of the opening so there is no track in the countertop.
