Crisp Modern Lake Washington Views
These homeowners weren't getting the most out of their kitchen, dining and living space at their Lake Washington waterfront home. Removing the wing wall between the kitchen and dining space along with changing the layout releived the kitchen of the crowded, disjointed layout, and allowed for a panoramic lake view.

The dated cabinetry and flooring in particular didn't reflect these homeowners' fresh, modern style, and posed the opportunity to bring in contemporary lines and sublte hues. Adding a new front door with glass along with larger windows helped bring in more natural light to the formerly dark space.
The horizontal lines of the space are mirrored in the tilework and posed a challenge when arriving to the unlevel ceiling. Rather than adapting the tile pattern, out team capped this wall with matching woodgrain - nicely bookending the work and adding cohesion. The waterfall countertop in the new island highlights the unique marble grain and accommodates generous workspace for cooking and entertaining.
Because of the ceiling structure, it wasn't possible to install a dropdown hood above the island stove, so we selected a downdraft vent. The model we chose cleverly hides the mechanism and also pulls air from the upper vent, rather than robbing the heat from the cooking surface. The counterspace and storage is amplified by the extended cabinetry and shelving in the dining area, tying the spaces together and offering space to display their family treasures.
"We’ve used Gaspar’s for two remodels, and they are great. They have an excellent design process, they’re honest, and their craftsmanship is top notch. We highly recommend them."

The tub/ shower combo had an awkward and dangerous two steps to get into the shower. The couple wanted a luxurious walk-in shower. The ombre shower tile design was inspired by a photo from the cabinet company. We had selected a different tile pattern entirely, but the image was so inspiring that it led us to redesign the shower. The vanity area was more connected to the bedroom than the shower/ toilet room with carpeted floors. The bathroom was outdated as well with a framed shower door and outdated cabinetry. Adding a door between the bedroom and closet/ bathroom area was key to the couple getting up and going to bed at different times.
